Hand in Hand
Last night I was asked ‘why do you what you do?’ Regarding getting up at before the crack of dawn to go shoot the same few beaches day after day.
I didn’t have an exact answer at the time other than; I love the beach, taking photographs and like sharing them around.
But, it’s more than that. It’s the feeling of excitement, amazement and overall euphoria when all things good line up in the lens barrel as I press that trigger down. When and if this occurs (definitely not everyday) I get an overwhelming buzz, an internal ‘boooyeah’ knowing that I have frozen something that is particularly special which cannot be recreated however hard I try. This thrill stokes the fire within for further morning adventures, in that search of something unique.
This morning’s sunrise was one of those moments that got the excitement levels raised. As I arrived (30+ mins before sunrise) the clouds above Ben Buckler glowed pink which is always a good sign that we’re in for something special. The sea was on the low tide drain, leaving those beautifully shiny banks perfect for those reflective shots. Then just before the sun rose the clouds lit up in some very warm, red raw and vibrant hues. I ran around the sand like a headless chook, trying to capture the colours from a variety of angles in the limited time available. So Spectacular! As the colours begin to fade I have the opportunity to reflect. WOW! Did that really just happen? I’m feeling pumped (maybe from the running around); I’ve both witnessed and captured an incredible scene which now I’ll be able to share with the masses. Stoke levels are pretty high~
Enjoy the pics, I had a great time taking them.
