It's not everyday that I get to shoot from a helicopter; in fact it's been a year in the making (weather, commitments etc). But gee I'm glad I waited it out... yesterday was exceptional. Nikki (@nikkibings) and I were treated to the most ideal shooting conditions and our pilot Melina from Blue Sky Helicopters made sure we got the most out of it.

12:30 pm

From the airport we were shortly over Maroubra heading North past Coogee, Bronte and Bondi. The beaches by this time were packed ~ We did a few laps around the bays nailing shots of swimmers, surfers and sand based ants. I love the patterns formed by the blue brollies clumps; the random nature of human placement and the assortment of vibrant coloured of towels .

If you remember last time I went up I quickly spotted Ana out the back making a starfish shape. This time I missed her and her little buddies Memphis & Savannah who were over for the holidays. They weren't deep enough so they blended in too much.

We then flew further North, in between the heads and down towards Circular Quay. We spun around, making circles directly above the Opera House. What an unreal and unique perspective it was. Then over Taronga Zoo (weird not seeing the giraffes in their usual million dollar spot as it's currently under renovation) and Balmoral on our way towards Manly. We did a couple of laps of Manly, Freshie and Curly beaches... shooting crowds, waves and the tidal pools. Pretty stoked to get up here as last time I didn't. Time was starting to run low so we headed back South, another pass of busy Bondi / Coogee then around and into Botany Bay.

1:30 pm

1 hour of well spent shooting... If you haven't viewed this gorgeous city of ours from above I highly recommended it. Give Blue Sky a call and setup a flight.

Hope you like the shots; I'll be adding them to the Heatwaves Catalog in the next day or so. They would look great on any size wall!
