A highlight indeed, a postcard perfect ‘winter’ day in Sydney. Nothing but golds and blues to wind up the working week. And didn’t we enjoy it! Prior to sunrise it was a challenged finding a parking spot, near impossible. With all the swim, walk and run clubs, the latte sippers and future clubbers all meeting in Bondi pre dawn, I ended up around the bends at Bronte just as the sun broke. Almost missed it too.
Wandering back towards Bondi along the coast was a mission. Streams of runners charged South along the narrow track and it seemed a good idea to get out of the way. People basked in the sun everywhere. Along the clifftops whale watchers caught glimpses of far off sprays and slaps. In the pool and across the bay swimmers did their morning laps before a warming coffee (still cool in by my standards). Surfers took off together, every wave turning into a party. A miracle finding an empty one.
In the afternoon nothing had changed, except for a bump in the breeze and a bump in the numbers packing the sand and surrounding parks. The town had buzzed all day, a magic Friday it had been. A Saturday repeat?
