YOU choose the beach, the time (morning or arvo sesh), where Adam shoots from (land or sea) and most importantly, what outfit to wear and we’ll go out together and create some magic.
Where do you shoot?
Heatwaves is a local expert in the Eastern Suburb Beaches (Bondi to Maroubra). If you prefer a different beach, we can also make that happen, additional costs may apply but just let me know.
What’s the best time of day to get my session?
When the sun rises and falls an incredible palette of colours is created that makes the perfect backdrop for these sorts of shots. Having said that, it’s up to you! All we need is good light, good conditions and a good attitude.
What if I need to cancel my session?
Mother nature happens. Life happens. I get it! I am committed to creating an incredible experience, not just pictures!
If you give me more than 12 hours in advance of shoot time to call off/change your session; we can reschedule at no cost.
If we make it to the beach and realise conditions are not ideal or you cut it within/under 12 hours notice; I will reschedule within this time period at no cost once.
If within 4 weeks of the postponed session we are not able to schedule a booking time, you will be refunded your payment minus a booking fee of $65AUD.
Please note that once we agree to start the session full price will be charged for services rendered.
How many images will I get?
In the 1-2 hour sessions I may shoot over 400 digital images which will be available for download within 24 hours. From these, you will have the opportunity to get at least 10 pictures edited and 3 printed (depending on your chosen package) within 5 business days of order placement.
Please note, if you need an order rushed, additional costs may apply.
What size of photos will I receive?
Through a shared dropbox you’ll find all of your images. For a quick upload these images will be 800 x 553 px. Then it’s your job to select your favourites for me to edit. Once you’ve sent through a list I’ll edit them up to make them POP! Edited photos will be sent through at 1800 x 1200 px. Perfect for desktop wallpapers, 5 x 7” prints etc.
Want one of your shots printed larger? Heatwaves can definitely organise this for you. Get in touch with Adam to discuss print sizes, framing options and pricing.
Do I need to be a professional surfer?
No, definitely not! Adam will photograph you whatever your ability as long as it safe to do so. For example Adam has shot the same beginner, now intermediate surfers on multiple occasions. Having more than one session has allowed them to see their progression and see what they can do to improve.
Can I organise this as a gift?
Absolutely, organising a surf photo session is a fantastic present.
Just let me know if it’s a surprise etc. Would hate to be the one to spoil it!
Bit of a disclaimer
Heatwaves is not liable for inclement weather, skill of surfer or any other factor outside of taking photographs.
The Surfer (bodyboarder, bodysurfer, swimmer, paddle boarder or otherwise) is the one in control of the session. If he or she believes the surf has become too dangerous they are to look after themselves and make sure they get back to land safely. Adam is carrying a large camera and should not be called on for assistance.
Know your ability and stick within it. Adam would rather be taking photographs of you surfing well on small waves than of you struggling on big ones.
Being in the water with a camera water drops happen! Adam will do his very best to rid the lens of this water and make the images as crisp as possible. In the unfortunate event that you do catch a great wave and the image is not sharp all we can do is try for another.
